Who's Who
Seth Shaffer
Executive Artistic Director
Seth Shaffer has a diverse fine and performing arts background and holds degrees in Botany (AA), Photography (AA), Film Production (BA), Acting (BA), and Puppetry (MFA). He is a lifelong learner with many years of experience leading in schools and arts organizations as a fine and performing arts teacher, director, teaching artist, mentor, and administrator. He served on the Puppeteers of America Board and has toured throughout the U.S. as a puppeteer. Seth is a published author of the Dick Myers Project; a book that explores the process of restoring, researching, and remounting the works of this puppeteer. He has years of experience serving as a curriculum writer for arts-based learning and has also developed a theatre curriculum using the key topics of engineering and formulated these principles into a theatrical design curriculum. For 8 years, he also served as the technical director of a 5th-12th grade theatre program where he taught students how to build sets, create lighting designs, and operate sound.
Elizabeth Shaffer
Education Director
Elizabeth (Liz) Shaffer is a dedicated and passionate theatre/drama teacher and theatre director with many years of teaching experience ranging from primary, middle school, high school to college level, as well as over 15 years of experience incorporating the use of theatre and drama to serve as a pathway for compassion, believing, and understanding our own lives and communities as well as the world around us. She is highly experienced through MFA training specializing in theatre for and with youth as well as in terms of educational theatre. She specializes in directing and working with large groups of students both in the classroom and in stage productions and have directed over 100 students on stage at a time. Over the years, she also served as a subject trainer for theatre teachers and developed curriculum for teachers to use within school systems for grades K-12.
Elizabeth Rocha
Office Manager
for her first season but has over 20 years of involvement at SCT. Liz started her career at Stebens taking tier classes and has since been involved in countless productions, served on the board of directors and now looks forward to continuing the journey with SCT in this new role.
Molly Gerrietts
Music Director
Molly received her degree in Music Education from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. She has taught at the elementary and high school levels and currently accompanies for the Mason City Schools. Gerrietts has served as musical director for SCT for four seasons. Credits include “The Music Man,” “The Sound of Music” and “Fiddler on the Roof”.
