STONE SOUP
October 12-16, 2016
“One of the funniest tales ever to land on the Stebens stage!” Home from the wars, three hungry soldiers wander into a small village begging for food. When the townspeople claim the “cupboard is bare” the soldiers make soup … from stones! A “miracle” story adapted to the stage just in time to teach us all a small lesson on “sharing.” This tale is a celebration in the season of “giving!”

The trickster, Anansi, angers the sky god, Nyame; first by stealing his proverbs, then by falling in love with his daughter, the beautiful Aso. Nyame requires the spider to prove his worth by passing an impossible test. A comical story with many a universal truth.
